Real Work in Puyallup
In July 2025, a homeowner on South Hill called with an emergency leak at the shower. Terrence pulled the water heater out and opened the drywall on the back of the shower valve wall to reach the supply pipes. He fitted two PEX adapters to the shower valve, ran brand-new half-inch lines down to the copper supply and joined them with press fittings. Then he set the water heater back in place, added an expansion tank, and tested every connection for leaks before the water went back on for the house. That November, elsewhere in Puyallup, Devin came back with a part ordered for an upstairs hall tub and shower whose old cartridge had plainly been leaking inside the wall for some time. He installed the new manufacturer’s cartridge in the existing valve, verified that the leak had stopped, and caulked the tub spout while he was there.

What We Repair
Leaks in walls, showers and crawl spaces
Leaking supply lines inside walls and ceilings, the pipes and cartridges inside shower valves, crawl space lines, and the service line from the meter. When the damage runs along a length of pipe we replace the run instead of patching it, and when the leak turns out to be a fixture part, as it did with the hall shower, we fix the part. Our pipe repair page covers the full range.
Puyallup-Specific Considerations
South Hill or inside the city limits
Much of South Hill sits in unincorporated Pierce County even though it carries a Puyallup address, so permits there come from Pierce County. Inside the city limits, including Downtown and North Hill, the City of Puyallup issues them. When a repair needs one, we tell you before we start and file it with the right office.
More than one water provider
The City of Puyallup supplies water inside the city limits, while South Hill homes may be on a mutual or private water company instead, such as Fruitland Mutual or Rainier View. That decides who you call about a leak at the meter, and your water bill names the provider.
Older pipe Downtown, newer pipe on the hill
Pre-war houses near Downtown can still carry galvanized or old copper joined to newer pipe, so we check the pipe on either side of a leak. South Hill’s newer subdivisions have newer plumbing, where leaks more often start at a fitting or a fixture valve.
Pipe Repair Questions From Puyallup Homeowners
Who issues the permit for a pipe repair on South Hill?
Usually Pierce County. Much of South Hill is unincorporated, so even with a Puyallup mailing address the county handles plumbing permits there, while the City of Puyallup covers homes inside the city limits. When a repair needs a permit, we confirm which office covers your address and file it before the work.
Who do I call about a leak at the water meter in Puyallup?
Call your water provider first, because the meter and the pipe on the street side of it are theirs. Inside the city limits that is the City of Puyallup; on South Hill it may be a mutual or private water company named on your bill. Everything from the meter into the house is yours, and that is where we work.
Can a shower valve leak inside the wall without dripping from the faucet?
Yes. A worn cartridge can leak behind the trim into the wall cavity while the spout and showerhead look fine, which is what Devin found on an upstairs hall shower in Puyallup last November. Stains on the ceiling below, soft drywall or a musty smell near the bathroom are the usual signs.
Why would a plumber move my water heater to fix a shower leak?
Because sometimes it stands in the way of the pipes. On South Hill in July 2025, Terrence pulled the water heater to open the back of a leaking shower valve wall, replaced the lines with new PEX, set the heater back and added an expansion tank before testing everything.
